Judge Drella C. Savage & Judge Diana Embil (Ret.)

On Friday, September 19, 2014, Chicagoland’s legal and political community turned out en masse to attend IJC’s exciting and memorable 32nd Installation & Awards Ceremony, “Judges, Justice & All That Jazz…” at the J.W. Marriott. The event marked the installation of IJC’s 2014-2015 Chair, Hon. William H. Hooks, its Officers and Executive Committee, and commemorated civil rights landmarks. The event also included presentation of law school scholarships as well as service awards.

Victor Henderson, Esq. introduced the dais. Hon. Toni Preckwinkle, President of the Cook County Board, and Hon. Denise Langston Morris, former President of the National Judicial Council, extended greetings to guests. Hon. David C. Coar served graciously as keynote speaker, framing the historical context of past civil rights victories and encouraging guests to continue the ongoing struggle for equal justice.

Guests enjoyed exceptional jazz entertainment provided by the Joan Collaso Trio and the Christopher McBride Trio. Sponsors included the Law Offices of James Montgomery, Clifford Law Offices, Powers, Rogers & Smith, and Jonathon Romain, Artist-in-residence, whose inspiring work was on prominent display.
